Our story

Songs that carry a story
worth telling.

Jim Winder and The Race have been singing, playing and performing in churches and Christian coffee houses across the US since 2000. Our songs are grounded in the Word and written to appeal to every age, with a sound that has been compared to James Taylor.

While we love the coffee house scene, our passion is our professionally produced shows: full evenings of drama, lighting and original music that open the Scriptures in a way people remember long after they leave.

Program one

Journey to the Celestial City

John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress

A 90-minute storytelling concert. Troubadour Jim Winder and his band of brothers walk the most poignant chapters of Pilgrim's Progress, with original songs written for the journey from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City.

“It was such a confirmation of the power of the message, to see the entire sanctuary packed out with teens and adults. Two months later, people are still talking about it.”

Program two

Blessed Assurance

Five Questions from 1 John

John wrote his first letter to a church that had lost its confidence. In five acts we deliver 1 John word for word, closing each act with the question John would ask his hearers, and answering it with original songs grounded in the text.

“The reality and message of 1 John was demonstrated in a captivating way that made it difficult to leave unchanged.”

Dale Whilden, Ocean Grove Camp Meeting President

“It was an over-the-top pleasure to host The Hard but Right Way once again. You have blessed our fellowship each time you’ve been here, and this time it was such a confirmation of the power of the message.”

Pastor John Hessler · Calvary Chapel Central Bucks, PA

“The epistle and its message of assurance are the core of the program, which engage both the mind and heart of listeners. My only regret is that there are only five chapters in 1 John.”

Pastor Paulo Freire · Hope Church, Wantage NJ
